About Stage Writers

Stage Writers was founded in January 2018 by award-winning writer, David Douglas. At the time, a budding playwright, David sought to connect with other local writers who shared the same passion and interest in crafting new plays. So, relying on his experience of having served multi-year terms on the Board of Directors of three local writers organizations, David formed this group for Dallas–Fort Worth stage writers.

inaugural meeting

Stage Writers had its inaugural meeting on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Houlihan's (Belt Line Rd | Dallas, TX). Six people attended, and scenes were read from three scripts. One, a dream-like vision of a lost love; two, a humorous lawsuit involving fairytale characters; and three, a conversation between a couple of old gossips in Louisiana.

Stage Writers is a proud member of WORD — Writers Organizations 'Round Dallas.
